[4]Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
There's only one thing that leads to a man being reconciled to the right consciousness. God's goodness. It's by his goodness that we are saved. It's by his mercy and love that you have been saved. The Bible says it is of grace through faith and not of ourselves lest we should boast but it is the gift of God.
Jas.2.13 For if you refuse to act kindly, you can hardly expect to be treated kindly. Kind mercy wins over harsh judgment every time. (MSB)
It's not just a few times but every time. Mercy wins over judgement. This goes further than what you did yesterday or this morning. This is bigger than that: God's not lacking in the mercy department. God's not lacking in the goodness department. He provides for us according to his riches in glory. That provision is not only in the physical needs, but also in his spirit. When Jesus died the temple curtain tore from top to bottom.
Showing you and I that we have access to the deepest place in God. Not by works, but by faith.
