IT IS FINISHED

John 19:30

When Jesus had therefore received the vinegar, he said, it is finished and He bowed His head and gave up His ghost.

Isaiah 53 talks of the suffering of Jesus. The Bible says, by his stripes we are healed. 1Peter 2;24 says "by his stripes we were healed. Isaiah 53 was a prophecy but 1Peter 2:24 was an experience, fulfillment. The Greek word for stripes in 1Peter 2:24 is Moloppi which means stripe {singular}. Jesus did not have one stripe of a cane, they used stripe to show us that the beating was too severe that if there remained a stripe of skin on his back, small as it was since the flesh was open it could be called stripe. Jesus' life was not taken, he gave it. He had even the authority to get it back by refusing to be crucified, but for my sake he gave it.

What does it mean to say it is finished? I will give you an example, at the verge of death in ICU, the doctor takes a deep breathe and says it is finished. It has two meanings; either the patient is dead or has survived.

For Jesus' sake, we didn't even call him to come and save us, He did it because of God's unending love for us. He was mocked, he was wounded for our transgressions. The price and judgement for our sins was laid on him. Look at this guy taking away all our sins was laid on him. Look at this guy taking away all our sins [ALL]. He undertook our judgement and said it is finished.

Jesus took all our sins, sickness, suffering as one for us. He accepted to live a poor life that I may be rich, He became my Wisdom.

Declare a life of "It was finished" on yourself. Rejoice in Jesus' work at the cross, this is what He desires, that we enjoy the fruits of His finished work. Even if you are broke, you wake up and conform to the word, I am rich in Jesus. There is nothing we can do to pay Him back, if we enjoy the fruits of his sacrifice, He smiles
